Sandra Ignagni trained in film production at York University, Maine Media, and at the UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art in Brooklyn, NY.

She holds a PhD in Political Science, Master of Fine Arts in Film Production, and Master of Arts in Indigenous & Canadian Studies. Her short films have screened at film festivals around the world. Her latest film Ottu premiered in competition at CPH:DOX. Highway to Heaven was produced by the National Film Board of Canada, premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Short Nonfiction at the 2020 Banff World Media Festival. The film can be seen on Apple TV, Amazon, CBC, En Route/Air Canada, and on NFB.ca. Ranger was acquired by CBC Canadian Reflections and won the Matrix Award for Outstanding Achievement at the 2017 Vancouver International Women in Film Festival. Between 2017 and 2020, Sandra worked at the Los Angeles-based International Documentary Association, where she was a regular contributor to Documentary Magazine.
